Overview:
Nasi Goreng is a popular Indonesian fried rice dish, often flavored with sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) and served with a fried egg on top. It’s a staple in Indonesian households and a beloved street food.

Ingredients:
- 3 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
- 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1 tablespoon regular soy sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 shallot, chopped
- 1 red chili, chopped
- 2 eggs
- 200g chicken, shrimp, or tofu (optional)
- 1 carrot, diced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fried egg and prawn crackers for garnish
How to Make It:
- Prepare the Stir-Fry: Heat oil in a large wok or frying pan. Sauté the garlic, shallot, and chili until fragrant. Add the meat or tofu and cook until browned.
- Add Vegetables: Stir in the diced carrot and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Fry the Rice: Add the cooked rice to the pan, followed by sweet soy sauce, regular soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir-fry everything until the rice is evenly coated and heated through.
- Top with Egg: In a separate pan, fry the eggs sunny side up. Place one fried egg on top of each portion of rice.
- Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions and serve with prawn crackers on the side.
