Overview:
Brownies are rich, chocolatey baked treats with a dense, fudgy texture. They are often enjoyed as a dessert or snack, either on their own or with a scoop of ice cream.
Origin:
United States
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts (optional)
How to Make It:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a square baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and whisk until smooth.
- Add the Dry Ingredients: Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until just combined—do not overmix. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and Serve: Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares. Serve as is, or with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of ice cream.
