Overview:
Boba Tea, also known as Bubble Tea, is a popular Taiwanese drink made with tea, milk, sweeteners, and chewy tapioca pearls (boba). It’s typically served cold with a wide straw to enjoy the tapioca pearls.
Origin:
Taiwan
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup tapioca pearls (boba)
- 2 cups brewed black tea (or green tea)
- 1/2 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 2-3 tablespoons sugar or honey (to taste)
- Ice cubes
- Flavorings like vanilla extract or fruit syrup (optional)
How to Make It:
- Prepare the Tapioca Pearls: Boil water in a large pot. Add the tapioca pearls and cook until they float to the surface, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally. Once cooked, drain and rinse the pearls with cold water. Soak them in a sugar syrup or honey to sweeten.
- Brew the Tea: Brew the black or green tea and let it cool. Sweeten the tea with sugar or honey while it’s still warm, and then refrigerate until cold.
- Assemble the Drink: In a glass, add a few tablespoons of cooked tapioca pearls. Fill the glass with ice cubes, pour the cold tea over the ice, and add milk. Stir to combine.
- Serve: Enjoy your Boba Tea with a wide straw to sip up the chewy pearls.
